"L'ouragan Fiona a touché terre à Porto Rico dimanche, privant d'électricité plus de 90 % des foyers de l'île et provoquant les inondations les plus dévastatrices que Porto Rico ait jamais connues. Tôt lundi, la tempête s'est dirigée vers la République dominicaine, où elle a également provoqué d'importantes inondations.
La tempête devrait se déplacer vers l'ouest en direction des îles Turks et Caicos mardi et continuer à se renforcer pour devenir un ouragan de catégorie 3 d'ici mercredi.
Plus de 1,3 million de personnes sur l'île sont privées d'électricité depuis lundi vers 9 heures, selon le site Power Outage US. Les pluies devraient se poursuivre jusqu'à mardi, après quoi les températures supérieures à 31°C (80°F) constitueront un danger supplémentaire pour les personnes toujours privées d'électricité.
Les effets de Fiona sont comparables ou pires que ceux de l'ouragan Maria - qui a frappé Porto Rico il y a presque exactement cinq ans. L'île, qui se remettait encore des effets de Maria, est à nouveau sous les eaux."

“Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico on Sunday, knocking out power for more than 90 percent of households on the island and bringing some of the most devastating flooding Puerto Rico has ever seen. Early on Monday, the storm’s path veered towards the Dominican Republic, causing major flooding there too.
The storm is expected to move west towards Turks and Caicos Islands on Tuesday and continue to strengthen to a category 3 hurricane by Wednesday.
More than 1.3 million people across the island are without power, as of Monday around 9 AM, according to Power Outage US. The rain is expected to continue through Tuesday, after that, temperatures in the upper 80°F (31°C) will pose an additional hazard for those still without power.
Fiona’s effects are comparable to or worse than those of Hurricane Maria — which struck Puerto Rico almost exactly five years ago. The island was still recovering from the effects of Maria and is now once again under water.”
